You will be greeted by the waves when you wake up. There are freshwater lava tube cubes, paths built for ancient Hawaiian royalty, tide pools, hidden swimming holes, and other excellent landmarks.

When it comes to the campsite, the state park has one with furnished cabins, and campsite amenities like restrooms, outdoor showers, and picnic tables. You would need to make reservations ahead of time if you wish to have one of the 12 furnished cabins.

Haleakala National Park

If you’re looking for a park with good camping spots, then you should visit Haleakala National Park. The park has 4 good campsites or spots. You can easily access two out of the four but would have to hike your way to the others. Hosmer Groove has a beautiful nature trail and it is easily accessible. Kipahulu is located at sea level; it is good for hiking and swimming, and also comes with an amazing environment. Both campsites have basic amenities and you can camp for free.

The Holua and Paliku campsites are more challenging than the other two. You would have to hike your way into the camp zones, and the grounds have a limit of 25 people each. It also comes with basic amenities and wilderness.

Papalaua State Wayside Park

This is operated by the County of Maui and it covers 6.7 acres of the oceanfront. It has a beautiful view of the water that you can dive into for a cool swim. The campground is not far away from a popular town and you are offered a view of Maalaea Bay. There are basic amenities in the state park and the fee is very much modest.

Kipahulu Campground

This is located within the Haleakala Tiol National Park, and it is less than a mile away from Kipahulu Visitor Center. The campground has the amenities needed for a camp and it takes up to 50 people. The town of Ha is just 10 miles away from the campground in case you need to restock basic amenities. Driving to the campsites in Hawaii and Maui is easier than you think.

There are spacious areas and fields for all group events and activities you’re interested in. The covered pavilion on the campground is available for having night activities and meals. Camp Maluhia

This is owned by the Boy Scouts of America but the public also has access to it. It is located on the north coast of Maui which is the best location for group camping. You have the luxury of a kitchen with 3 full freezers and a dining hall on the campsite. It is the only campground on Maui to have a swimming pool so you would love it there. There is a recreational field on-site and a shooting range on the site as well.
